DEVELOPMENT PROJECTS DURING THE PERIOD 1960-2006

During an intensive ten year period with Harry Chapples of Beaconsfield, as Project Manager, a mixed range of schemes were executed for Private, Local Authority and County Council Clients.

  1. Planning, design and construction of 200 Dwellings of detached and semi-detached layout on a site that was set down for agricultural use, but was opposed for such use by the local Residents, and by reasoned argument and logic became a most sought after residential area of Beaconsfield, Bucks in the village of Holtspur.
  1. Planning, design and construction of a three storey block of 6 ground floor shops over basement car parking and storage, with twelve flats on the first and second floors. A particularly involved scheme as the site was a former waste tip and had to be thoroughly cleansed prior to construction of the new build.

  2. Planning and design of 60 mixed dwellings at Alconbury Airfield in Huntingdon which was refused on application and dismissed on appeal after a very keenly fought two day hearing at Pathfinder House, Huntingdon. It did appear that the planning Inspector was in favour of the innovative development that included several benefits to the local Community such as road improvements and an additional classroom for the Primary School.
However the scheme was put aside on the grounds of distance from existing
    housing settlement.
  3. Construction of 102 Homes for High Wycombe Borough Council, including the 5,000th post war unit of accommodation within the Borough officially opened by the Minister of Housing and Local Government. This job demanded excellent groundwork capabilities owing to the extremes of land levels.

  4. Construction of 48 Dwellings in Four three storey blocks of 12 units being ground floor flats and first-second floor maisonettes. This site was situated close to the water level and needed to have great care taken with ground conditions thus imposed.

  5. Construction of 12 Dwellings at White Hart Lane in Beaconsfield for Beaconsfield Urban District Council in conjunction with a private Architect.

During a period of five years under indentures with J.M. Jones & Sons Ltd. of Maidenhead a variety of design and build schemes were completed, in my role as Project Surveyor and Assistant Project Manager, such as a number of Projects in large and smaller scale:

During the latter part of the 1990’s and over the past six years I have concentrated upon the planning perspective and this has included land search, acquisition, planning application and appeal activities.

More recently, the advent of the Local Development Framework replacing the existing Local Plan has meant working more closely with Local Authorities and The Planning Inspectorate to seek inclusion of land parcels for inclusion within the new envelope of The Local Development Framework.
